Construction #21

Two days before launch!

From Eric: Well, it's finally down to the wire. seaDee launches on Monday morning! You can be sure that I will be there to record the event for posterity (and for your Blog).

The boat is coming along just beautifully.

The stripes and bottom paint are applied. Blue and Tan.

The speaker system in the salon is made by Orb. Softball sized drivers and a subwoofer hidden under the seating. Icom 802 SSB for long distance communications

The SSB requires a good RF ground. Four 5/16" bronze bolts fasten a ground plate to the hull and provide a connection point inside the hull for copper strap. The strap is routed to the tuner.

More photos on Monday.

Construction #20

When I was informed recently the boat would done and in the water by April, it seemed an ambitious plan. After all, the original delivery date was August 2006 and month after month slipped by with little progress. But now I'm a believer. New photos:

Flybridge, and radar arch which will be added to the boat once delivered to Green Cove Springs.

Master stateroom

Second stateroom will have a elevated twin with two sets of drawers

More soon.

Construction #16

Home stretch. Tom's Gale Force is now in the water and seaDee, plus two other boats are now scheduled for a late March completion date. Gale Force is a N47 (ten feet longer than seaDee). Eric has sent several new photos of seaDee's engine room and it's very exciting to see the major systems take shape.

Speaking of photos. For some unknown reason, all of the photos from past posts have suddenly disappeared. I have a note into Blogger, but to date, no reply. If the problem can't be fixed I may have to delete the early posts. Bummer.

Also, note a new feature of the updated Blogger. Labels. On the right, posts are now grouped by a label. For example, all posts related to the great loop can be isolated and viewed together. Sweet.

I snapped some more photos while visiting Mirage

While in Gainesville recently to visit Eric, Ken and the staff at Mirage, I snapped a few photos of seaDee in the finishing area. The area is jammed with boats. Two N47s are now in the final stages. Tom's boat will be finished for the winter boat shows. Christina Sea is right along side and will be finished a few weeks after seaDee (they hope).

We made some decisions on counter tops, fabric, guest cabin configuration, flybridge electronics, sound system (now where are we putting that subwoofer?) and many other details. A good trip and good fun. Many photos below:
